Cultural Scenarios: Global Personal Branding

Cultural Scenarios: Global Personal Branding

Mark has been working with a large drilling and manufacturing company for a little over eight years. Exceptionally strong in his core job responsibilities, he is a quiet but diligent worker and slowly but surely climbed to a position of management in the company. However, in the last year he saw a slowdown in his growth. Under his management, his teams continue to deliver consistent positive results and he has never heard any complaints during evaluation periods. Confused, he started to wonder why he was being over looked for promotions while other individuals seemed to be getting more opportunities. When he was overlooked for management of a new project involving multiple regions, he was told they needed someone who was a bit more dynamic; someone who had exceptionally fine-tuned interpersonal skills and the confidence to lead a project that would be worked on by individuals sitting in offices across the globe. How can Mark develop his personal brand and make a name for himself in his organization?

The development of a strong, powerful and successful brand requires strategy, flawless execution and consistency. The same holds true for personal branding. Branding oneself within an organization or industry is a formidable task in itself. Doing so on a global level is even more daunting and requires a coach with a fine tuned cultural perspective, one that has experience within the diverse audiences with in which the individual operates.
